Outside of my window… The sun is shining and, while it is still brisk out there, we’re forecasted to have mild temperatures by this afternoon. It is that time of year in New York where we can have 50 degrees one day and a coating of snow the next.
I am one of those people who doesn’t mind the snow. The first snowfall of the season brings a thrill to my heart and I love the idea of being “snowed in”. I also think that a snowy winter makes the coming of spring extra sweet.
“If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant: if we did not sometimes taste of adversity, prosperity would not be so welcome.” – Anne Bradstreet
Around the house… My girls are diligently working in the day’s homeschooling. Normally Wednesday is the day where they are scheduled to write a letter or draw a picture for a Compassion child. However, a friend slept over on Tuesday night and Wednesday was declared a day off, so that assignment was switched to today.
Luna wrote out a verse from her Reason for Handwriting book, which I will copy and be able to send along to a number of our Compassion children. Kaya decided to write to our Rodrigo in Bolivia and she told him about the things she is looking forward to, now that Spring is here.
I am looking forward to…. Tomorrow evening I’ll be going to a Purse for a Purpose party. A friend and fellow Compassion Advocate named Kim makes these beautiful custom purses. The profits from the bags go to fund the sponsorship of Kim’s daughter in the Leadership and Development Program. (Read more about LDP here!)
(This picture was taken at one of our homeschool Science classes, where I got a good giggle out of seeing ALL of the Purse for a Purpose bags that were there!)
The two bags and wallet on the right hand side of the picture are mine, but I have some money saved up and plan to order a larger one like the brown and green batik bag towards the left of the picture.
I’m also looking forward to helping out at a Compassion table with my husband on Sunday evening! Hopefully, this time, I will remember to bring my camera and take some pictures!
I’ll leave you with a prayer request… This morning, I received the news that my grand-nephew was born at 8:00am! Just this past hour, he was transferred to another hospital with an NICU department because of complications with fluid in his lungs. If you could please pray for baby Johnathan Elliot, I would appreciate it! Also, please pray for his parents, Destiny and Stephen. Destiny is still at the first hospital, waiting to be released and transferred and I imagine it must be VERY difficult to be separated from her new baby at this time.
Thank you so much!
I hope that you have a blessed day, friends!
